Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer team co-owned by David Beckham, has won its first trophy in its history, thanks to the stellar performance of its star player Lionel Messi. The Argentine legend scored 10 goals in seven games to lead his team to the Leagues Cup title, a tournament between MLS and Liga MX teams.

Messi, who joined Inter Miami in June after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, has been a sensation in his new league, scoring in every game he played and dazzling fans with his skills and creativity. He scored the only goal for Miami in the final against Nashville SC on Saturday, a stunning strike from outside the box that curled into the top corner.

The game ended 1-1 after Nashville’s Fafa Picault equalized in the second half, forcing a penalty shootout. Inter Miami’s next game is on Wednesday, August 23, against New York City FC in the MLS regular season. They are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, with 40 points from 24 games. Messi said he was confident that his team could qualify for the MLS playoffs and compete for the MLS Cup, the ultimate prize in American soccer.
